Certification
Certification is a big issue that requires consideration on almost all modifications to 4WDs these days, with some WOF shops not even prepared to issue a warrant on a vehicle with a simple 50mm spring lift, despite (at the time of writing this) there being no specific ruling requiring certification for it.
We do recommend even a simply modified vehicle be certified, if for no better reason than to ensure you are covered in the event of an accident. If all your modifications are legally certified and your insurance company is fully informed of them, then you are in a far stronger position than if you, like many 4WD owners, 'hide' the odd modification. If nothing else its a great 'second opinion' on your modifications.
Engine Conversions
In the past, 4WD Stuff successfully completed many engine conversions, including the old favourite "Supra Swap" Supra Straight-6 (5M-GE, 6M-GE and 7M-GE as well as the later 1JZ and 2JZ's. We even put diesels into petrol trucks for economy (ie: 2L or 3L transplanted in place of a 3Y or 4Y)
Other conversions, including Holden (Buick) 3.8l V6 and 304 (5-litre) Holden (Chev) Injected V8 (and LS1 / LS2), 1UZ-FE Toyota 4-litre V8's were considered or installed.
We also undertook the odd "outside the square" installation - like an old-school Buick V6 carburetted motor we successfully wired a link computer to for controlling a custom TBI setup consisting of a Ford Falcon throttle body and injectors, fired from a custom modified HEI distributor.
4WD Stuff is now soley e-based and the workshop is closed - but years of experience means we know what parts are required, and we can recommend the ones that we know to work.
